LIC Jeevan Labh Plan 736: Bonus, Calculator & Returns

By LicBaba Expert Team7 min read

LIC Jeevan Labh is widely considered LIC's most attractive savings plan. Discover how limited premium paying terms and high bonus rates generate the best tax-free yields.

LIC Jeevan Labh (Plan 736) [जीवन लाभ प्लान 736] is a non-linked, participating, limited premium payment endowment plan. Unlike traditional endowment plans where you pay premiums for the entire duration of the policy, Jeevan Labh allows you to pay for a shorter duration while enjoying coverage and compounding benefits for the full policy term.

Jeevan Labh Structure: Terms & PPT

The plan offers three specific combinations of Policy Term and Premium Paying Term (PPT):

  • 16-Year Term: You pay premiums for only 10 Years.
  • 21-Year Term: You pay premiums for only 15 Years.
  • 25-Year Term: You pay premiums for only 16 Years.

Factual Return Example: ₹10 Lakh Policy

Let's calculate the maturity value and return rate for a 30-year-old purchasing a ₹10 Lakh Sum Assured policy with a 21-year term (15-year PPT):

  • Sum Assured (Basic Cover): ₹10,00,000
  • Premium Paying Term: 15 Years
  • Annual Base Premium: ≈ ₹46,400
  • Total Premiums Paid: ₹46,400 × 15 = ₹6,96,000
  • Accrued Reversionary Bonus (Yr 2026 Rate ₹54/1000): ₹11,34,000
  • Terminal Bonus Rate (₹250/1000): ₹2,50,000
  • Estimated Payout at Maturity (Yr 21): ₹23,84,000
  • Annualised Return Yield (XIRR): 6.12% p.a. (Tax-Free)

An annualized yield of 6.12% tax-free is equivalent to a pre-tax return of approximately 8.75% for individuals in the 30% tax bracket, making Jeevan Labh an exceptionally strong wealth-building option.
